  • "I wanted to tell you how wonderfully your dahlias are performing in my garden, despite the fact that they have had less than perfect conditions! I live in humid Georgia and all but the biggest bloomed plants are prolifically producing gorgeous flowers. I'm new to dahlias but they couldn't be easier or more rewarding. Thanks so much--"

Still waiting...

I really, really wanted this cultivar to be a success for my cut-flower needs. However, reading the prior review, I am wondering if this variety just doesn't like the heat. It has been an extremely hot, humid, dry summer for my province and despite shade cloth and deep watering, this plant started off very slowly with stunted growth for weeks. September 1st, I am still waiting for a bloom. I hope I fall in love with it when it makes an appearance. Will try again next year though.
Bill Killpatrick (Lafayette, NJ) 10/28/2015 5:36 AM
Of the 70+ varieties in my collection from Swan Island, this is the first disappointment. Bush was scraggly and blooms sparse. That said, this was the hottest, driest summer ever in my area. Little Lamb was in the southeast corner of a raised bed making it the hottest, driest position possible. (Yes, I watered frequently and deeply.) Will try it again next year and retract or reiterate this review. Note: Remainder of dahlias performed better than they have in 22 years in this location.
