  • "I wanted to tell you how wonderfully your dahlias are performing in my garden, despite the fact that they have had less than perfect conditions! My experience with this dahlia is an outlier on the bell curve. I planted very late, in pots, June 3, and the plan sprouted July 3 with the first bud finally blooming Oct 25th. The spot I had to keep my pots got not much more than 6 hours sun a day, and by the time the buds formed, temps were in the 50's. I was worried this one wouldn't bloom, but it started to - and now the temps are below 40, so I've pulled it into under a plant light about 4 days ago. Yes, indeed. I waited a long time for these blooms, of which only 2 formed. But they are absolutely beautiful. They look like sunflowers right now as they are slowly opening. The stalk is humongous. The buds took a long time to fully form. I look forward to growing this with an earlier start next year. It's a very happy flower to look at.
